Quit Getting Robbed

Here are some interesting statistics from Integrated Solutions for Retailers and the University of Florida National Retail Security Survey:

Retailers lost $41.6 billion in inventory shrinkage in 2006.

1.61 percent is the average percentage of sales that would be saved if loss from theft was eliminated.

$4,600 is the average dollar amount stolen by a shoplifter during a single year.

47 percent of shrinkage is attributed to employee theft.

Add other inventory inefficiencies such as "stale" merchandise and slow turnover, and your inventory loss factor can come closer to 5 percent. That's why a good computerized Point-of-Sale System such as Cash Register Express pays for itself in less than a year.
