Hi guys, I’m Spence with POS Nation.
Accepting all forms of payments isn’t just a leg up for retailers, but a ‘need to have’ given the nature of today’s payment landscape. One such form of payment is EBT.
This form of payment is widely used, and making sure it’s easy for your cashiers to ring up and your customers to pay with is critical to a fast and seamless checkout process.
CAP Retail by POS Nation has several features baked into our point of sale system software that makes paying with an EBT card easier than ever.
I’ll go ahead and show you how that works.
So we’ll go ahead and ring up a few items that are EBT-eligible such as this Snickers and this Reese’s. And then I’ll select an item that isn’t EBT-eligible, such as this beer.
When all of the items are on the invoice, you can go ahead and select payment and choose EBT services for the payment method.
What this will do is give you a subtotal of all the EBT-eligible items. In this case, it is $1.38. What you will notice here is that there is no tax on this subtotal because EBT transactions are tax exempt.
So the customer will insert their EBT card and their four-digit pin, and then process the payment.
The POS system will then take that payment and give you a remaining balance that you will be able to process with a card or cash.
I’ll go ahead and complete that here, and you’ll see that your change due here is $2.15. So it’s that simple.
